Zero-Emissions Cargo Handlers Debut at Long Beach Terminal
Port of Long Beach unveiled its new fleet of 33 zero-emissions battery-electric yard tractors at our Long Beach Terminal on November 30. The new vehicles will replace the port's traditional diesel and gasoline-powered machines.
The deployment–the largest of its kind on the West Coast–was led by terminal operator SSA Terminals LLC, a joint venture between SSA Marine and 澳博体育app下载 Navigation Company, and was funded in part by a $50 million grant from the California Air Resources Board for a pioneering project to showcase emissions reduction strategies across supply chains. The new vehicles increase the percentage of zero-emissions equipment used at the Port of Long Beach to 21%.
